The Greatest! A little boy was overheard talking to himself as he strutted through his back yard carrying a baseball bat and ball and shouting, “I’m the greatest hitter in the world!” Then he tossed the ball into the air, swung at it, and missed. “Strike one!” he cried. Undaunted, he picked up the ball and repeated, I’m the greatest hitter in the world!” When it came down, he sung again and missed. The boy paused a moment, examined the ball, spat on his hands, adjusted his cap, and repeated, “I’m the greatest hitter in the world!” Again he tossed the ball into the air and swung at it. He missed. “Strike three!” “Wow!” he exclaimed. “I’m the greatest pitcher in the world!”
